Dropping the Ball

This month, I completely dropped the ball on posting three new posts throughout the month. This here is number two, and unless I, by some miracle, come up with something else in the next two hours, there will not be a number three.

Dropping the ball is generally not a specialty of mine. When I commit to something, I like to see it through. This month has been a whirlwind of commitments. Work and moving and remodeling a house have taken up every spare bit of time I have. I don’t even have time enough to work on my own projects, and with deadlines looming again, there’s a fairly good chance I’m going to have to ask for yet another extension (my editor cannot be so patient with me a second time, I’m sure).

How am I going to catch up? Well, I’ve got three days until the draft is due. NaNoWriMo officially starts in a few hours. I also work basically full time and have a second job as well. Not to mention the house still needs work. I’m going to have to make a schedule and stick to it. Today I got everything on my to-do list done except this project with the deadline. With NaNo, for these first few days, I will only have minimal amounts of time to dedicate to it – ie. I can really only spare enough time to get the daily goal. I guess it’s back to Write or Die this year. It’s been even more difficult lately as I haven’t had internet access since Monday. Finally got it back today in the new house.

There is so much on my plate that it’s hard to know where to start eating, if you know what I mean. I guess the only solution is to prioritize and maximize time usage, aka get off tumblr and do some actual work. I’m off to do that right now. Maybe I will get that third post done tonight.
