Books I Want to Write

Every one of us has a list a thousand miles long of books we’d like to write or plots we’d love to see written (just maybe not by us because, oh my god, writing takes so long, you guys). So I thought we’d have some fun today and come up with books I’d love to write but either a) don’t have the time, b) don’t have the proper imagination to bring to justice, or c) may write at some point in the future.

So let’s start, shall we?

  • Mermaids: Now, we’ve all see The Little Mermaid and we know that the actual story bears little to no resemblance to the Disney movie. Lately, I’ve seen a lot of mermaid stuff going around and I’d like to get in on that action. I want a book where mermaids are women who have fallen overboard while at sea. Mermaids adopt them into their fold and transform them into beautiful creatures. There could be mermen too. It’d be pretty awesome.
  • Death: I saw this prompt on tumblr but I thought it was awesome. Someone witnesses a death and then when the Grim Reaper (or however you’d imagine it) comes to take them away, they fall in love with Death. Consequently, they begin to commit murders so they can see Death more and more. Lots of moral qualms and potential for adorable frustration or horror movie type deals depending on the direction you take it.

Those are two I’ve been mulling over for a while, and yes, there’s no much of a plot to those, but they’re great jumping off points. If you’ve got any books you’ve been mulling over or just think would be awesome, feel free to leave a comment. Who knows, you may get some great ideas in the process!
