A lot has been happening around here, but not much I can talk about yet. I’ve gotten pretty used to my job where exciting things happen but I can’t share them for months until things are ~official. Life is the same way. Don’t count your eggs before they’re hatched, my grandparents used to say. So what can we talk about? Well, it’s almost October, which means it’s almost November which means NaNoWriMo!
Some of you may not know that aside from writing and working, I raise rabbits. Yes, cute little rabbits that, no, don’t actually breed like rabbits. Raising rabbits is an ongoing process, like most hobbies, but unlike most hobbies, I can’t control much in the way of how they improve over time. It’s genetics, you see, and that can only be guessed at. No matter how much I groom a rabbit or teach them to pose correctly on the show table, I can’t change what they are.
Despite what it looks like when I write novels, I am a planner. I like to know where I’m going, how I’m getting there, and what I’ll be doing once I get there. Unfortunately, most of life doesn’t operate that way and I’ve had to adjust to not knowing a lot of what’s going to happen. It’s okay. I’ve gotten used to it. Doesn’t mean I like it, but here we are. The thing about plans is that they don’t usually go the way you intend them to anyway.
