According to WordPress, this month marks five years on this blog. 2011 seems like a lifetime ago. Many things were different–I was still living in France, for one. The Cereal Song had already been published for almost two years. I had a lot of ideas about where I could go with my life, but I’m not sure any of them actually worked out.
I have not been writing. I have not been writing for months. I know this blog often makes it look like I am, but I am not.
Lately, I’ve been working on another project. Not really something fun and not really something easy. The truth is: I bought a house. Exciting, right? Well, it might be if there was less work to do. So far, we have weathered the unexpected gas leak, the water heater breaking, electrical issues, and more. But it’s taken up every bit of spare time (I have not had a free weekend since October, you guys, between NaNo and getting the house). I closed on the house in December and have yet to move in. Yes, it needs that much work.
So instead of writing a post today, I’d like to direct you to the increasingly frustrating saga that is my home improvement projects over on my other blog, BrokenTarted.
This week’s episode includes a flooded kitchen and a leaky valve. Enjoy!
2016 has been strange, despite the fact that it’s only been 10 days. It started out on a low note and it hasn’t gotten much higher. Already it feels like whatever goals I made will become unachievable and I’ll be doomed to repeat the cycle over again. Sounds like a great year, right?
