Getting Through Editing

The editing process can be grueling, taxing, and all around awful. I speak from experience. What you think will be an easy fix winds up being hours and hours of torture. Did I say torture? I meant agony. But unfortunately, it’s something you have to get through if you want to get that book finished and hopefully on its way to published.

First things first, you have to start.

Yeah, that’s right, open up that document and stop distracting yourself with tea.

Then you gotta plan. Ugh, I know, planning sucks. You have to actually look at your document and decide what’s wrong and what needs to change.

Maybe here you should have someone else read it. A fresh perspective can sometimes be just what you need to get unstuck.

Okay, so you’ve decided what needs to change and you’ve had someone else give an opinion. Now you work!

No, seriously actual working. Reworking, changing, bettering! Hopefully.

And eventually, once you get all of that done, you get to do it again!

But at the end of it, it’ll all be worth it (maybe). So go forth and edit! And try not to kill anyone in the process.
